Ora Mae Gatley

Ora Mae Gatley

January 04, 1933 ~ July 10, 2021

Ora Mae Gatley, born January 4, 1933, was the fourth of seven children. Her father was ill and passed away before her third birthday. Her mother, Eleanor, raised Ora and her siblings, Dorothy, Patrick, and John until she wed her second husband, William Muller. Together they welcomed Betty, Mary Etta, and Billy. Willy (his nickname) loved Ora and became father to her and her siblings. Her children knew him as “grandpa Willy.”

Ora married Raymond Gatley and together they raised nine children, Ora Lee, Paddy, Marty, Jimmy, Nancy, Mary, Dorothy, Maureen, and Brandon. Life was challenging raising nine children, nonetheless despite trials, the love Ora always had for her children was constant. The house was overflowing at times with children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren—all welcomed and loved. Ora treasured each new addition.

There were many times when Ora was asked to care for family members young and old and she always responded yes cheerfully. Her love was returned many times; everyone loved her, family and friends. She and Ray were able to take vacations with family and friends and while visiting Marty and his family in England, were able to visit other countries, including Italy. The exploits were funny and memorable and will no doubt be talked about every time the family reminisces.

Ora’s life was one well lived. Pain, joy, happy, sad. She was funny and seemed to let sad roll off her back. She forgave anyone for any transgression and held no grudges. She is greatly missed No one can replace her. The most all of us can do is to imitate the best attributes she exhibited—love and forgiveness.

Rest In Peace Ora.

It’s a wonderful life

Always warm and welcoming and full of sunshine and laughter. She always made you feel loved. I have so many wonderful memories with my amazing Aunt. No matter how much she had on her plate, she had such a positive attitude and laughed at situations that most would have pulled out their hair. She will always be a a strong, beautiful person that has taught me lasting lessons in life by her loving actions. My love for her was built by such fun and humor that will stay with me forever. Love you always Aunt Ora.

I can’t believe how quickly time flies. You’ve been a force of love my whole life. I’ll miss your hugs and smile the most, Grandma. No one could ever fill the tiny shoes you left behind; the best we can do is keep what you stood for close to our hearts. Love your family, no matter what. Stand your ground, and if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. She was strong, quick witted, and everything I hope I’ll be one day.

No one will fill your tiny shoes. ♥️

Nancy, Mary and family,

I have such fond memories of you and all the fantastic chaos back in Valhalla (hide and seek and a broken bathroom sink immediately come to mind). I didn’t realize we are now only a few hours away here in Florida. Your mom was one of a kind and so well loved! I hope your wonderful memories bring you smiles and comfort in the days ahead.

Much love to you all,

Elizabeth Bernard (nee Pugh)

My mom summed up in one word would be selfless. Mom was such a caring and giving person she gave to the last drop of her life.
She loved her family and all she ever wanted was a everyone to get alone forgive one another.
Mom Was a fruitful woman who had nine children 15 grand children and seven great grand children.
I love you mom and thank you for all the wonderful lessons you have taught me and you will be greatly missed. Proverbs 31: 30-31 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing but a woman who fears the Lord she’s she’ll be praised, give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates. Mom as you Enter the gates of heaven I pray that all my family will receive Christ as there Savior and be up there with you so we can have a big reunion one day. Love you forever, Nancy
Friends & family thank you for your kind words, love and comfort.
