Matthew Hanstine

September 07, 1975 ~ August 20, 2020

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us search for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that’s what you’d given me. That’s what I’d hoped to give you forever.

Matthew Hanstine, 44, of Orange City, passed away on August 20, 2020, of a heart attack. His loss was completely unexpected and his family and friends are shocked and deeply saddened.

Matt was born on September 7, 1975, to Ronald and Doris Hanstine in Hancock, New York. Matt attended Hancock High School and was passionate about football. After graduating, Matt went on to play football at Syracuse University. Unfortunately, his football career was cut short by a debilitating knee injury.

Matt moved to Florida in 1993, where his Grandparents resided at the time. He spent over 25 years in the building supply industry. Matt also spent many years moonlighting as a bouncer at The Barn and Rodeo. He was respected anywhere he worked, and always cared about his employees/co-workers.

Anyone who knew Matt knew he was kind-hearted, giving and generous. He was also protective of all his friends and family. He had an infectious smile and incredible sense of humor.

Matt enjoyed spending his off-time with friends. Whether watching college football (devout Florida Gator fan) with his best friends Billy Dease & Brent Muse at Hooters/Wing House; he also loved fishing the flats and off-shore. Matt also enjoyed downtime hunting in North Florida with Booger at the Muse Camp, as well as golfing with his buddies and wife. Matt became an active member of the River City (DeBary) Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he loved playing bingo with the “Old Folks” and enjoyed sharing his food skills smoking and cooking food for events and holidays.

Matt waited to find his soul mate, and in 2017 met Danielle. Their love was like no other and nothing could stop them; not even Covid. Matt and Dani married in an intimate ceremony, shared virtually with all, on April 25, 2020.

Matt was truly a blessing to all who had the great fortune to meet him. Matt is predeceased in death by his loving father, Ronald; mother, Doris, and brother, Jim. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Danielle; furbabies, Gunner & Bella Rae; as well as his sisters: Rhonda Miller (Charles), Rita Hanstine (Bill), and brother Joe Hanstine; nieces: Jennifer, Leanne, Joanne, Autumn; nephews: Charles Jr., Benjamin and Will; and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2020, from 2:00 til the cows come home at Horsepower Ranch, 280 Campbell Ranch Run, Geneva, Florida 32732.

What we learn as we travel the path of life is to live each day to it’s fullest and treat each other with love and compassion. I’m sad to know the void that is left by his passing and pray for him and those who will forever miss him.
